Job Description

This position is responsible for providing effective instruction for assigned dental assisting didactic courses.

Essential Duties Summary

Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions):

  • Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner
  • Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance
  • Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour
  • Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment
  • Grades and returns student work in a timely manner
  • Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course

Constructs classroom materials that support the goals of the course

Designs curriculum and a schedule of instruction

Stays abreast of most current teaching methods and technology in the classroom

Uses assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching

Assists with establishing goals and objectives for the course, selecting text and constructing a syllabus

Maintains communication with instructors from other divisions in order to keep courses up-to-date and appropriate

Participate in pinning ceremony

Required Qualifications

▪ Must have a Bachelor’s degree (Prefer a Bachelor’s degree in Health Related or Adult Education);

▪ Must be a graduate of an ADA accredited Dental Assisting Program;

▪ Must be currently Certified by the Dental Assisting National Board (CDA);

▪ Current CPR certification and maintain certification;

▪ Must be clinically competent in the performance of DA II Skills as Recognized by the North Carolina State Board of Dental Examiners;

▪ Must have a minimum of two years private practice experience; and

▪ Must have a minimum of three years teaching experience (clinical or didactic) within an accredited dental assisting program.
